- "Passed with bipartisan support, the Tribal Law and Order Act of 2010 amended the Indian Law Enforcement Act and several other acts, extending and revising authority for prosecuting and responding to crimes in Indian country." Some of the provisions include coordination between U.S. attorneys and tribal justice officials; providing technical assistance to combat crime in Indian country; authorizing tribal courts to impose sentences and fines; requiring tracking of crimes and gang activity in Indian country; gave tribal police access to federal crime databases; notification to tribal authorities when persons in federal custody return or move to Indian county; increased emphasis on fighting substance abuse; and, prosecution of non-Indians who commit rapes on tribal lands, and other matters dealing with domestic and sexual assault.--Introduction
