- Millard Farmer grew up in a small segregated town in Georgia in the 30s and 40s. After law school he started his own practice and as he gained experience and success he distanced himself from the establishment, eventually taking on mostly African American death row cases. In the 70s he joined with Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center to form "Team Defense" in order to defend indigent defendents facing the death penalty. He has become a legend in this area
