- Catherine Carr became involved with the women's movement while a student at Yale in the early 70s. She then went on to the University of Pennsylvania Law School where she became more concerned with the issue of poverty. After law school she clerked for the Honorable Norma Shapiro and then was a staff attorney at the Education Law Center. After traveling for an extended period, she returned to Philadelphia and started her career at Community Legal Services. In 1995 she became its first female Executive Director
