  • "This translation is a revision of the previous translations published in World Constitutions Illustrated: in 2011 of the Constitution of 2001 as amended to Constitutional Law No. 2009-22 of 19 June 2009, and the numerous Frenchlanguage sources used to prepare it; and in 2016 as amended to Law No. 2012-16 of 28 September 2012. For this edition, the translation was based on the official French text of Decree No. 2016-306 as published in the Journal Officiel de la République du Senegal, Year 161 No. 6912 of 1 March 2016, as provided by the web portal of the Presidency: http://www.presidence.sn [consulted March 2016] and at the web portal of the Journal Officiel: http://www.jo.gouv.sn [consulted April 2016]. The web portal of the Journal Officiel also provides a transcription of the text of the amending law which corrects some typographical errors made in the print edition. The Decree was promulgated by Constitutional Law No. 2016-10 of 5 April 2016, published in the Journal Officiel de la République du Senegal, Year 161 No. 6926 of 7 April 2016, the transcription of the text made available at the web portal of the Journal Officiel: http://www.jo.gouv.sn [consulted May 2016]. The amendments were adopted at the Referendum of 20 March 2016. An official consolidated text in French has yet to be made available. Certain questions remain concerning the form of the amended text. For example, one would expect that new descriptive headers would have been added together with the newly inserted Arts. 25-1 and 25-2, and with Art. 25-3. It is hoped that such matters will be resolved by new official publications."--Title page verso
