Note
  • "This translation is based on the official Spanish text of the Acta Reunión No. 002 of 13 June 2015 of the National Revisory Assembly for Constitutional Reform, as made available at the web portal of the Senate of the Dominican Republic: www.senado.gob.do/senado [consulted June 2015]. The text of the amending law, together with the new consolidated text, to be published in the Gaceta Oficial, has not yet been made available."--Title page verso
  • "Editorial note. The drafters of the Constitution of 2010 made a concerted effort to eliminate gender discrimination in the text, making provision for the matter in Article 273. Many of the high offices of the State and of the Government are presented with both the feminine and masculine variants. Additionally, the order of the presentation of genders is frequently changed so as not to assert one more favorably or strongly over the other. These patterns have been duplicated in the translation here, even though English is gender neutral on many of these points. The resulting translation may seem somewhat redundant or awkward, but reflects closely the intent of the original."--Title page verso
